Canadian Federation of University Women Aurora/Newmarket

ABOUT CFUW

CFUW is a world of women helping women. With 112 clubs across the country, and over 9,000 members, we are one of the few self-funded, non-partisan women's groups in the country. CFUW is the largest of the 67 affiliates of the International Federation of University Women (IFUW).

Our Aurora/Newmarket club was founded in 1957 and has been growing steadily ever since. We now have more than 220 members and are one of the largest clubs in Canada. CFUW is both a social club and a service club. It is a place to make lasting friendships, engage in social activities , and participate in the community. Join CFUW and build a better world.

Our Club and CFUW are committed to:

  • The pursuit of knowledge
  • The promotion of education
  • The improvement of the status of women and human rights
  • Active participation in public affairs in a spirit of cooperation and friendship

The towns of Aurora and Newmarket are centered on the longest street in the world, Yonge Street, in the Region of York immediately north of Toronto.

A UNIVERSITY DEGREE IS NOT A REQUIREMENT OF MEMBERSHIP

CFUW Aurora/Newmarket meets from September to April on the fourth Tuesday of the month at 7:30 p.m. at The Royal Canadian Legion, 105 Industrial Parkway N., Aurora, Ontario.

We start with a short business meeting, enjoy an informative guest speaker, then socialize afterward. The year ends with a banquet in May.  Other special club events are planned throughout the year.
